religious people...

Practice “belief-ism” – In other words, they are intensely focused on researching understanding and defending the “truth”, but pay significantly less attention to the spirit in which it is lived out.

The “way” they live their lives is characterized by what they do not do in order to win God’s approval or avoid his punishment.  They rarely pursue relationship with people that are different from them out of fear of repercussion from God, their leaders and their peers.

“If I do all the right things, then God will accept me.”

Absolve their responsibility for the condition of the culture – They see the bad in culture as judgment from God and the evidence of the devil’s rule and Jesus’ soon return.  Their main efforts toward culture are to draw people out of culture and into a religious sub-culture dominated by their particular beliefs.

One thing common among “religious” people is that they generally want people to be just like them.
