“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
-Jesus of Nazareth as recorded in John 14:6
Any group, spiritual or not, tends to get defined by its worst (and often the loudest) representatives. We believe the message of Jesus is more relevant and impactful today than it has ever been. We believe there is a lot of good to be found in churches. However, it seems that while many accept the truth Jesus taught, they seem to be much less acquainted with the “way” that truth was lived out by Jesus and his early followers.
When Jesus and his early followers walked the earth they were seen as one thing, revolutionaries. The revolution they led was very attractive because it was full of hope and meaning, a way of living different than the dominant culture of that day. Jesus is still more radical and revolutionary than he seems to be today. His invitation into his kingdom, his way of living, is still counter to our culture.
We believe the honoring and accepting way Jesus engaged people was what opened their hearts to receive the truth he taught. Many people are stuck in church ruts today because they are trying to find the life Jesus promised only in his teachings. In reality, the life of Jesus is only found when we fuse the Jesus Way with the Jesus Truth.
